Grants and SR&ED Advisory

 Clarity and credibility in non-dilutive funding decisions 

VanWyn provides strategic advisory support to organizations pursuing non-dilutive funding through government grants and SR&ED. These services are delivered as part of VanWyn’s broader advisory practice, with a focus on judgment, defensibility, and disciplined decision-making.


Our work prioritizes clarity over volume and credibility over speculative applications.

What We Do

We help organizations:

  • Identify real, viable grant and incentive opportunities 
  • Decide which programs are worth pursuing and which are not
  • Prepare clear, defensible grant and SR&ED submissions
     

Our role is not to maximize the number of applications, but to help clients make informed decisions about where to invest time and effort.

Engagement Model

Our engagement model is designed to be transparent, practical, and aligned with the realities of different funding mechanisms.


No cost for:

  • Initial conversations 
  • Grant and incentive discovery
  • High-level eligibility and strategic fit assessment
     

This stage is intended to determine whether pursuing grant or SR&ED funding makes sense at all.

Grants Support

 Government grants are discretionary and competitive. For this reason, grant engagements are delivered on a flat-fee basis only.


Grant work is scoped per opportunity and structured as fixed-fee projects.


Typical support includes:

  • Eligibility and program-fit analysis 
  • Strategic positioning and narrative development
  • Technical writing and application drafting
  • Budget alignment and compliance review
  • Submission-ready documentation and guidance
     

VanWyn does not charge success fees or back-end percentages on grant funding.

If a grant is awarded, clients retain 100% of the funds.


We also advise clients when not to apply, to avoid wasted time, cost, and reputational risk.

SR&ED Support

 Organizations conducting research and development in Canada may be eligible for SR&ED tax incentives, often more broadly than expected.


Unlike grants, SR&ED is entitlement-based and audit-driven. As a result, SR&ED engagements may be structured under different pricing models, depending on scope, risk, and client preference.


SR&ED support may include:

  • Eligibility framing aligned with CRA expectations 
  • Clear, defensible technical narratives
  • Coordination with accountants for filing
  • Audit-aware claim preparation and review support
     

SR&ED engagements may be delivered as:

  • Flat-fee projects
  • Hybrid models
  • Success-based fee arrangements
     

All pricing structures are confirmed in advance and documented prior to engagement.
